Judges at the Social Enterprise Festival Weekend
CEO at Emirates Foundation
Clare Woodcraft-Scott is passionate about effective philanthropy and speaks and writes regularly on catalytic and venture philanthropy. She is a firm believer that the rapid global growth of philanthropic capital requires a fundamental transition away from short-term grant making to a much longer-term, strategic approach to creating social value. This would logically comprise a further professionalisation of the sector, more focused investment, measuring of aggregate output rather than only input and a greater willingness to acknowledge failure and learn from it. She was responsible for the successful transition at Emirates Foundation, the national foundation of the UAE established by the UAE Crown Prince, from a traditional grant-making institution to one pioneering venture philanthropy in the region and creating sustainable and scalable social enterprises with measureable output. She actively works with others in the region and beyond to promote effective philanthropy and to support up and coming philanthropists in developing high impact models that can deliver real systemic social change.
